WTF
Just Some Thoughts I Had Today About Snow Patrol.
Apr 27th
I have listened to “Shut Your Eyes” by Snow Patrol about four times today. The thing is: that deep within the fiber of my being I understand that Snow Patrol suck and that the only reason they got famous was, well (and lets be frank), Grey’s Anatomy.
But I heard “Shut Your Eyes” on the radio and I loved it. The spaced out layering of the instruments, the incessant “fuck you” to the Verse Chorus Verse song structure (you know you want it to get epic when the song gets to the handclaps and they’re singing “shut your eyes and sing to me.” 90’s radio trained you to be that way), the moodiness, it moved me. It’s a really good, solid song.
Which makes Snow Patrol a bunch of dicks.
Why do bands do this? Do they have an agenda? Do they sit down and say:
“Hey guys, we know we suck. We’re the scourge of the earth, but lets write one really, really good song that spreads like some sort of bubonic plague and then those poor hearted souls that really, really love the song will slog through the rest of our shit in the hopes of feeling their spirits soar that much again.”
“But we’ll just suck.”
What a bunch of dicks. But alas, here I will listen to “Shut Your Eyes” for the fifth time today.
Dan Luke’s Journal (Part One)
Nov 6th
This is an excerpt from my private journal:
“I’m not sure what else I need to speak of – I do know that I am trying to blink less. I would like to offer myself some sort of silver lining to this epic long rant. I would like to say that I know how to maintain eye contact now. I know how to look at people without blinking. And I think that while maybe I’ll never slow down – maybe I’ll become used to it and, in turn, blink less.”
I think I might be retarded.
THE MICHAEL PHELPS MOVIE
Sep 29th
America is caught up in Michael Phelps mania lately. Michael Phelps is the new black, or whatever it is all the hipster kids are saying. All of us here at The Dangerous Mind of Dan Luke have been keeping up with the Michael Phelps coverage and saw this next step to be inevitable. So, without further to do we introduce to you our new film project: PHELPS: The Incredible True Story

PHELPS: The Incredible True Story chronicles the rise and fall of the most awkward looking and least charismatic athlete in American history. Starring Jeff Bridges, Uma Thurman, and Academy Award winner Adrien Brody as Michael Phelps. The biopic will show both the hardships of a young Michael Phelps as he battles the horrific and life crippling Attention Deficit Disorder as well as his legendary performance at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games where he made swimming marginally tolerable.
PHELPS: The Incredible True Story will teach Americans to cherish those with better genetics and the backing of large conglomerate corporations, rather than those who strive to achieve the American dream through hard work and sacrifice. Written by Dan Luke and directed by Ridley Scott with a tentative 2010 release date.
Special Thanks to my roommate Joe Marcello for the Adrien Brody suggestion (I originally said Matthew Broderick) and Frank Romano III for his wonderful Photoshop work.
Comments From Blogspot.
May 27th
So you all have offered quite a bit of feedback and support through your comments this past year on the old Blogspot site and I am very appreciative of that. It was originally intended that all of your comments be transferred to this new site and the corresponding posts that you commented on but, due to the fact that I have parted ways with my previous collaborator/webmaster, this is looking somewhat unlikely (that is until I get a better understanding of Wordpress, which may take some time).
That is not to say that it is impossible, but for the moment it has to be set on the backburner so that I can concentrate on new content. So let this serve as a reference and some sort of pansyass tribute to all of you beautiful, succulent people with tender skin that have supported me through this entire process! And to the many, many people that have hated on me: As always, go fuck yourself.
